because we care ...

THE 2020 YEAR

For the new year, the organization is planning to have a much greater impact in rural and informal settlements, hence the emphasis on 2020s road show and the national volunteer recruitment and training program.

We are aiming to recruit more volunteers in the beginning of the year due to overwhelming amounts of cases we have received and the low supply of volunteers to diligently tend to those cases. The new volunteers we will be working with after the start-of-year workshop will be trained to give awareness and motivational talks, perform basic counseling and facilitating and managing cases

The organization is planning to host two seminars (one during mid April and the other in the beginning of August).

The organization is currently sourcing out a new affordable office which will serve as a venue to conduct official and formal responsibilities and serve as a donation drop-off area

We are also planning to host a 16 Days of Activism and World AIDS Day events

DETAILS

School and Community visits

Every month, we strive to visit communities and schools on the weekends. We aim to provide counseling services, give motivational and awareness talks and, where possible, hand out food, clothing, toiletry and stationery parcels.

World AIDS day event

For World AIDS day, Women and beyond is planning to bring ten schools to one school together on the 1st of December. We will be bringing awareness to heavy topics such as HIV/AIDS, family planning and healthcare. We will be assembling a team of volunteer medical professionals (nurses, doctors, etc) who will perform free checkups and give health talks on contraceptive methods and information on this epidemic. More details for the event will be released in the new year.

16 Days of Activism event

For the 16 days of activism event, we will be visiting ten communities during the days between the 25th of November and the 10th of December. We will be giving motivational talks, flyers and will be offering counseling sessions on Domestic, emotional, sexual and physical abuse. More details for the event will be released in the new year.

April and August seminars

During the April and the August seminars, our main goal is to bring men and women from different backgrounds and we will be conversing on the topics such as abuse, teen pregnancy, poverty amongst women and children and more. We will also be discussing ways in which we can solve and facilitate projects to alleviate such struggles in the communities we have established a relationship with. More details for the event will be released in the new year.

June Road show and Annual National Recruitment and Training Program

Every year, we dispatch a group of volunteers who venture into communities with whom we have established a relationship with across the country. During the Annual National Recruitment and Training Program, our volunteers visit twenty communities across six provinces in South Africa. This event takes place in the middle of December. We train new volunteers for the year ahead with skills that will enable them to tackle the cases that they will receive in the region they are dispatched at and to facilitate school visits in their area.

For the June Road show, the volunteers focus more on visiting informal and rural settlements near the towns and cities we have established a relationship with to offer the women and children food, toiletry and clothing parcels, and free counseling and awareness talks on domestic, emotional, sexual and physical abuse.

More details of these events will be released in the new year

New office venue

For the course of the 2020 year, we hope to obtain a new office for our Cape Town branch. We are in great need for a office to facilitate administrative functions, organize volunteer meetings and workshops, as well as offer counseling services and serve as a donation drop-off zone
